"Narda is also a
consultant in the area of entrepreneurship and has just finished a workbook
entitled 'Am I Ready to Mind My Own Business.'" In 1995 I was asked, by Loyalist College in southern Ontario to speak on the topic of being a woman entrepreneur. It was well received and from the questions asked afterwards I felt the inspiration to start giving it as a workshop. That of course consisted of dozens of sheets of flip chart paper and participants writing frantically, and always having to consider a time factor. Then someone suggested turning the thing into a workbook format. I did and the result is a manual entitled , "AM I READY TO MIND MY OWN BUSINESS?" As you see the title can be read with the emphasis on different words. Sometimes in our business life we need to put the stress different places. This whole manual is built around the premise that you don't know that you don't know and therefore you can't always ask the right questions or even enough questions. It is not a course for MBA's. It is for the average person who has a dream for a product or service and maybe only wants to start a business from their home, garage or small store front and then work from there. Before I opened my own store back in the 90's I did my research, talked to consultants, bankers and read the government books. It wasn't long after I opened up for business that I knew all these people giving advice took for granted that you had a certain level of understanding. I try to bridge that gap for people. I can deliver and explain the book in a variety of sessions. I like to keep the groups small so that I can answer the individual business or personal questions as we go along. Then people go away with the workbook and do it. It may take them six months to a couple of years to finish the book. But then their feasibility study is done, and everything is at their fingertips to complete their business plan and funding proposal. But better than that they actually know every piece of foundation needed to create a solid business and get it going on the right foot. I just love getting up and doing my 'song and dance routine' and see the light dawning in the eyes of the participants. The following gives you an outline
of the topics we offer in our course entitled, "AM I READY TO MIND
MY OWN BUSINESS?" For further information on the course,
